The Kentucky Lake Cruisers were born in Jan.
of 1997 when, after having been made a local coordinator, I started putting
fliers and the early KLC newsletters on bullet boards at area motorcycle
shops.
In April I met Michael and Patrick Riley from
Camden, TN through Yamaha of Paris. They were looking for a group to ride
with and decided to join the VOC. We had also got members Harry Wilder,
John Loughlin, and Mitchell Cornett, all VOC veteran members, through letters
published in the VOC national newsletter. Last but not least, after much
whining and crying. I talked two of my best riding buddies, Jerry Holley
and my dear 'ol Dad, Larry Mobley, into joining the club. With this rather
motley crew as our charter members, we got the paperwork to the VOC executive
board and Tennessee's first chapter became offical.
Now as we approach our anniversary we have 15
members through TN and MO. We've held several rides and we've had our first
charity benefit for St. Jude Childrens' Hospital which raised over $1800.
I believe the future holds even better things for the Kentucky Lake Cruisers.
