The VOC was formed in Florida, in 1981. Over 5,000 members have been a part of the Family. Today the club is enjoying a rebirth, thanks to hard working officers and local coordinators, and a rapidly growing membership of riders. Our current membership spans three countries including, the U.S., Canada, and Germany. Our dealer discount program is expanding weekly. We are proud of our Dealer Members and are grateful for their support. We are also building effective working relationships with Yamaha Motor Corp.
We call ourselves "A Family of Riders", and our members enjoy lasting friendships made through the club, both on the local and international levels. Many club members have a wealth of knowledge about Viragos, so help with your bike is as near as your phone. We are an "Open Club" and many of our members own and ride other makes of motorcycles.
We consider the Virago to be extremely dependable and enjoyable. We have many high mileage owners. Our Virago owners have come up with some very ingenious modifications for their bikes which cannot be simply bolted on. Some have even designed and made their own parts.
At the time you join.... A plastic embossed membership car useful to obtain discounts at participating Dealer Members, a VOC Mylar Decal, and VIN registration to help deter bike theft and to aid in recovery of stolen motorcycles.
This newsletter is published six times a year and contains club news, tech tips, member mail, officer reports, chapter activities, Regional Rally announcements, our annual Home Coming event, and more.
Better known as our "Family Directory" it lists all club members who wish to be included, and provides you with people to contact throughout the U.S., Canada and Germany. This is particularly helpful when you are on an extended tour and need help at some point along the way.
This program provides our members with discounts at participating Dealer Members. At a minimum these dealers offer 10% discounts on Yamaha parts, and may extend discounts to accessories and other items as well. You recieve these discounts by presenting your V.O.C. membership card. If there is not a Dealer Member in your area, we can work together to locate a good dealer who might join the program.
Where a number of V.O.C. members live near each other they form groups of riders known as chapters. It's a great way to meet new people! Chapters enjoy all kinds of events such as Poker Runs, Toy Runs, escorting Walk-A-Thons, Tech Seminars, Parties, interaction with area clubs, etc. And you need only four V.O.C. members to get started.
Currently, we are enjoying three rallies. A "Family Reunion" is held in the east, annually. It is our biggest event. Other rallies such as the Pacific North-West Regional Rally and the Western Round Up are now becoming annual events. Each rally features a host of events. Everything from Poker Runs to Bike Shows. Other rallies are pending and you can be sure they will be fun!
